The Blue Wave Mail Door/RemoteAccess v1.02

Installation and Upgrade Documentation
If you are installing The Blue Wave Mail Door for the first time, you can
skip this documentation and follow the installation instructions
contained within BWMAIL.DOC.
If you are upgrading from v1.00 of the door for RemoteAccess, please read
this entire documentation file so that you are familiar with the changes
made.
INSTALLATION
------------
Installation is very simple. Inside of the enclosed file BWMAIL.ZIP,
there are two .EXE files to replace; BWMAIL.EXE and BWUTILS.EXE. Simply
copy these files over your old ones in the \BLUEWAVE directory.
WARNING!: Due to popular demand, the /K<user#> command line parameter has
been made to work differently. In the previous version of the door, a
command line of "BWMAIL /K1" would load the first user out of USERS.BBS.
However, the door now uses a "/K0" to refer to the first user (in order
to stay consistent with the user numbers displayed in the RACONFIG user
file editor).
WHAT'S NEW
----------
* When displaying the message base scan screen, the door now uses '-'
characters in the place of 0's for a cleaner display.
* The "/K<user#>" door command line has been expanded to accept a user name
where you would normally place a number. For example, a command line of:
BWMAIL /Kgeorge_hatchew /d
would automatically load the door in local mode, scan USERS.BBS for the
user having the name "George Hatchew", and then perform an automatic
download. Please note the use of the underline character between the
first and last names. You MUST use an underscore wherever there is a
space in the user name.
* When messages are uploaded to a netmail base, the door will now perform a
zone-matching check. For instance, if your RACONFIG setup shows that you
have 3 AKA Fido/OtherNet addresses of 1:2240/176, 44:44/0, and
86:107/208, the door will do the following:
On a message addressed to a node in zone 44, the door will place the
originating address of 44:44/0 on the message. On a message destined for
zone 86, the door will place the originating address of 86:107/208 on the
message. If the message is destined for a zone for which you do not have
an AKA defined, the door uses the MAIN, or DEFAULT AKA. If a message was
going to zone 2, the door would place your primary address (1:2240/176)
on the message.
WHAT'S FIXED
------------
1) The Keyword bundling command (K<area#>) didn't work properly. It
should now handle the bundling of keyworded messages properly.
2) The Filter bundling command (F<area#>) didn't work properly. It
should now filter messages correctly.
3) For the v1.00 release of the RemoteAccess door, I inadvertantly left out
a menu option in the BWUTILS->Security Manager. The door has a
configurable security level for determining which users have the
"Extended Msg Information" toggle available while at the door's
configuration menu.
You can now define the security level needed to access this menu
item, which controls the passing of ^A and SEEN-BY lines to the
reader.
4) The door should be placing the correct * Origin: line and origin
address on messages uploaded now. Version 1.00 had trouble with
addressing a message unless the message area had an Origin Line
defined in the RACONFIG message area editor.
5) The FOSSIL handling has been improved, and should now work on those
systems that have had trouble with ^s and ^q characters being passed
to the door input routines.
6) Problems with incorrect file sizes and times being displayed after
the mashing of a mail packet in local mode have been fixed. (It was
sometimes showing negative numbers and wierd transfer times).
7) The door should be writing ECHOMAIL.BBS and NETMAIL.BBS to spec
now, even when the first message in the base is NOT numbered as "1".
ECHOMAIL.BBS will no longer be created when a message is uploaded to
a local message base.
Thank you for trying The Blue Wave Offline Mail System!
